I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia. Prior to beginning my studies at UVA I received a BA and MA (the latter cum laude) in History from the University of Amsterdam, and an MA in Political Science from The New School for Social Research, for which I also received a Fulbright Fellowship. My research and teaching focuses on American politics - predominantly political parties, campaigns and elections, (qualitative) research methodology, and LGBT politics.
